SHOP Oil Change Kit
SHOP Oil Filter Kit
6 quarts (5.7liters) of LIQUI MOLY
OEM BMW oil filter kit(includes o-rings and washers): BMW Part Number 11-42-7-833-769
-Oil drain pan
-3/8 drive ratchet
-short extension socket
-6mm allen bit socket
-13mm socket
-shop towels
Additional Maintenance Items:
-SHOP Oil DipStick OEM Part Number 114 378 311 40
-SHOP Oil dipstick o-ring Part Number 114 317 176 66 (x2)
-SHOP Oil Filler Cap (M) OEM Part Number 111 214 054 52
Step1:
-jack the front of your car onto jack stands to allow room for the oil pan and yourself. (the e46 M3 drains from the rear of the pan so jacking up the car will help rather than hurt the process)

Step2:
-with your oil drain pan close by, remove plastic cover and slightly loosen the drain plug using your 6mm allen bit socket.
-after you loosen the bolt, put your drain pan into position then continue to remove the bolt.
Step3:
-remove your engine oil fill cap. Remove the fuel injection connector, then remove the 13mm bolt from the oil filter housing
-to remove the injector clip simply press in the silver wire clip and it will release easily
Step4:
-remove old filter and replace with new filter.
-replace the o-ring and crush washer on the oil filter bolt. Also replace the oil filter cap gasket.
Step5:
-at this time, your oil should be drained and you can remove your oil drain pan. Replace the oil drain plug with new crush washer and torque accordingly. Snap cover back on
Step6:
-fill your oil using 51/2 -6 quarts, replace fill cap. briefly start engine to cycle oil, shut off, check engine oil level. Do not exceed max line on the dipstick
Step7:
-remove car from jack stands and start engine. Check for any leaks on the ground as well as around the oil filter cap.
You are done
